Designed with beginners in mind, the course uses a step-by-step, building-block approach. Classroom instruction is paired with integrated hands-on skills training. By the end of the program, students will be able to install, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems, including those at Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) locations.
The FBA OpTIC Path – Optical Telecom Installer Certification is available through various vocational schools and colleges nationwide. It was created to address the growing skills gap and help accelerate the deployment of fiber infrastructure throughout North America.
Upon successful completion, graduates will receive a Certificate from the Fiber Broadband Association, valid for three years, after which retesting is required. They will also receive a one-year complimentary FBA individual membership, granting access to industry research and resources.
Developed by the Fiber Broadband Association, this 144-hour course offers hands-on and classroom training for beginners to install, test, and maintain FTTx networks. Offered nationwide through colleges and veteran programs, it prepares graduates for entry-level roles, internships, or a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship. Completion includes a 3-year FBA OpTIC Path Certification and a 1-year FBA membership with access to resources and industry networking.
